A campaign is how a course, an onboarding or training programme, or a follow-up series is organised, and triggers are the individual steps that carry it out. This section exists so you can build a process once — who it targets, what happens, in what order — and let it run, rather than sending everything by hand.

Campaigns

A campaign is a container for the messages, lessons and interactions that make up a course, an onboarding or training programme, or a follow-up series — aimed at a segment of contacts. In the API its steps are called triggers. It exists to hold the shape of the process — the audience, what happens, in what order — so the individual steps have somewhere to belong. See Campaigns Introduction and Overview in the Help Center.

Triggers

A trigger is a single step inside a campaign: send a lesson, send an email or an SMS, or wait. Each owns its own scheduling, contact selection and execution. Note the app calls these steps lessons, messages and content — trigger is the API’s name for all of them. They exist because they are the part that actually does something; a campaign with no triggers has no effect. See Campaigns Introduction and Overview in the Help Center.
